In June 2021 19,469 children in Lambton County were eligible for the Canada Learning Bond.
Only 7,075 children were registered for the CLB. This means that 12,394 children in Lambton County are missing out on the opportunity to have up to an additional $2,000 for their post-secondary education!
If every child was eligible in every year, that would total $24,788,000 in scholarship money for Lambton youth!
Even if you aren’t sure if your child will qualify, it’s worth a visit to the bank or credit union to see if you are eligible. You don’t have to have a bank account or contribute any of your own money to receive this benefit for your children.
Each eligible child will receive $500 in the first year and an additional $100 each year they are eligible until they turn 15 years of age. Parents and caregivers can apply for the CLB at any age, but the earlier, the better, since the money will start earning interest as soon as it is put into the bond.
Even if your child is only eligible for one year, they will receive $500 for post-secondary education!
