Cherries can be sweet or tart and they come in shades ranging from red to yellow. The fruit is delicious on its own, or can be used to make a wide variety of dishes, desserts, and drinks. Cherry wood is used to make beautiful furniture.
In 2021, approximately 19,080 metric tons of fresh cherries were produced in Canada.
Careers in the cherry industry include farming, production, food preparation and woodworking. Most of these occupations will require post-secondary education.
If you are interested in a career working with cherries look into your eligibility for the Canada Learning Bond. If you were born after January 1, 2004, you may be eligible for up to $2,000 in free money for post-secondary education.
