Remembrance Day is intended to remember the men and women who have served, and those who continue to serve Canada in peace and during times of conflict.
While countries around the world observe a day of remembrance for their armed forces, Remembrance Day is observed in Canada on November 11. Another popular term is Poppy Day. People wear poppies in honour of Remembrance Day. This practice was popularized by the famous poem, In Flanders Fields.
A ceremony in Ottawa to commemorates Remembrance Day. School children will also observe the holiday with programming that teaches them the significance of the day.
