Valentine’s day originally started as a day to honour St. Valentine.
Reportedly, Valentine was a Roman priest who defied Emperor Claudius II back in 270 B.C. who had banned marriage so more men would go to war. St. Valentine continued to marry people in secret, leading to his execution.
This is how he became the patron saint of romance. People around the world celebrate St. Valentine on February 14th which is not so much a religious holiday as it is a commercial observance.
St Valentine’s Day time to celebrate romantic love, friendship and admiration by sending messages of love and affection to partners, family and friends.
Enjoy your Valentine’s Day, however you decide to celebrate it. Be sure to tell your loved ones about the Canada Learning Bond and how eligible children and youth could qualify for up to $2,000 in free money for post-secondary education.
