December 10th is Dewey Decimal System Day.
The Dewey Decimal System was first published in the United States by Melvil Dewey (born on December 10, 1851) in 1876.
Dewey was interested in simplification and because of that interest, he developed The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), also known as the Dewey Decimal System.
The Dewey system classifies new books so that they can be added to libraries based on their subject.
Even though the DDC was developed in 1876, it is still used in libraries around the world!
