January 8th is recognized as War on Poverty Day.
Many studies have shown that education is a critical factor in helping to end poverty.
With education people are able to work in meaningful employment that breaks the cycle of poverty.
It is also projected that over 70% of future jobs will require post-secondary education, whether it is college, university, apprenticeships or trades, to enter the labour market.
Since education is key to exiting poverty, it is important to start saving early. For people living in poverty, the Canada Learning Bond will provide up to $2,000 per child for their post-secondary education.
If you think this may apply to your, don’t delay, apply for you or your children. Even if your family only qualifies for 1 year, then $500 will be deposited into your child’s Registered Education Savings Plan.
