Did you know that Hair Stylist is a Red Seal trade? That means once you complete this course your training is recognized across Canada.
This apprenticeship takes about 2 years to complete. This is 3,500 hours – 3,020 hours of on-the job work experience and 480 hours of in-school training.
A Hair Stylist will perform a variety of hairstyling services including cutting, designing colouring, permanent waving, relaxing and straightening.
Specifically, a Hairstylist could do the following:
- performs health, safety and sanitization procedures
- performs routine salon functions and service fundamentals
- treats scalp and hair
- cuts and styles hair
- performs chemical treatments such as waving, relaxing, and straightening
- performs colour services
- work with wigs, hairpieces and extensions
