There are two options for applying for the Canada Learning Bond.

In-person
Make an appointment at your:
- Bank
- Credit Union
Or with a
- Financial Planner/RESP seller
At the Appointment
- Bring Social Insurance Numbers for each parent and child plus a second piece of government photo identification for each parent
- Tell them “I would like to open a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) and apply for the no fee, no contribution Canada Learning Bond”
On-line

Choose one of these on-line options.
Follow the directions, upload all the required documents as instructed. This is a 2-step process that may require a phone call to complete the application.
Start On-Line, Finish In-Person
Follow the directions on-line.
Book an appointment at the financial institution of your choice to finish the application.
It will take a few weeks for the Canadian government to process your application and calculate any entitlement.
When the calculation is completed the Canada Learning Bond money that your child is entitled to will be deposited into the RESP.
