IDES of March

IDES of March
March 15, 2024 by LorriK

You may have heard of the Ides of March, but do you know what it is?

The Ides of March is the 15th of March! According to the ancient Roman calendar, the Ides of March is the 74th day of the year, which translates into March 15th!

In ancient Rome it was marked by several religious observances and was a deadline for settling debts in Rome.  This might have been the origins of tax time! Speaking of completing your taxes, it is a good time to assess the family’s finances and determine how much to contribute to your children’s RESP. If you aren’t in a position to contribute to the RESP, be sure to apply for the Canada Learning Bond. It’s free money from the Canadian government for your children’s RESP.

Finally, in 44 BD Julius Caesar was assassinated making the Ides of March a turning point in Roman history.
