Are you interested in becoming a nurse?
In the Nursing profession there are many different roles.
Since 2005, all Registered Nurses (RNs) in Ontario must have a baccalaureate degree. RNs either take a collaborative college-university nursing program or a four-year university nursing program. Both of these lead a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing degree (BN). Once you successfully complete your education, you qualify to write a licensing exam called NCLEX-RN. A passing grade on the NCLEX-RN exam leads to the Registered Nurse designation!
A Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) requires a two year college diploma and a passing grade after writing the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination. This is a requirement in all provinces and territories except Quebec.
Once your education is complete, RNs and RPNs can work in hospitals, long term care facilities, Public Health, physician’s offices and other health care settings.
You can use the Canada Learning Bond to start your education in the nursing profession!
