The game of Scrabble was invented by an architect named Alfred Mosher Butts in New York City during the depression to help pass the time. It was originally called Criss Cross Words!
National Scrabble Day is celebrated on Butts’ birthday, April 13th.
Scrabble is great way to learn new words and spend time with friends and family. However, it’s not all fun and games. Some people take the game very seriously and compete in National and World Scrabble Championships!
