January 18th is Thesaurus Day!
A thesaurus is a book that compiles words grouped with similar meanings.
The term thesaurus is a Greek word, thesauros, which means treasure or storehouse.
Roget’s Thesaurus is one of the most well-known and widely used reference books in the English language. It was first published in 1852 with 15,000 words. First published in 1852, it has never gone out of publication!
Students of all ages use a thesaurus for writing papers in high school and in post-secondary education.
If you plan on going to post-secondary school, whether it is a trade school, college or university, you should check to see if you are eligible for the Canada Learning Bond. Refer to the posts on this blog for more information.
