A couple of guys from Vancouver, BC came up with the idea for Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. They saw it as an opportunity to raise money for the cancer treatment for a friend. Since then, people have been having ugly sweater parties and Ugly Christmas Sweater Day for fun and for fundraising.
This annual celebration is a great excuse to parade the most unfashionable seasonal knitwear. People scour the thrift stores for inappropriate sweaters while others make their own.
Whether you participate in an Ugly Sweater Day at work or at a party, be sure to tell people about the Canada Learning Bond and the opportunity to apply for between $500-$2,000 for eligible children.
