Did you know that Welding is a Red Seal Skilled Trade?

To become a Welder you must complete a 3 year apprenticeship. This apprenticeship involves 5,280 hours of on-the-job work experience and 720 hours of in-school training permanently.

Some of the things you might do as a Welder include:

  • shielded metal arc welding
  • gas metal arc welding
  • gas tungsten arc welding
  • plasma arc welding
  • submerged arc welding
  • automatic/semi-automatic processes
  • fitting/fabrication
  • brazing
  • thermal cutting: oxy-fuel-gas, plasma arc, air carbon arc

Don’t forget to see if you qualify for the Canada Learning Bond. You can use the CLB for costs associated with the Welding apprenticeship.
