October 1, 2023 by LorriK

Did you know that World Vegetarian Day was founded in 1977 by the North American Vegetarian Society? In 1978 it was endorsed by the International Vegetarian Union. October 1st  kicks off Vegetarian Awareness Month. Vegetarians do not eat meat for a variety of reasons including religious, ethical or environmental concerns.

India is the country with the most vegetarians at 38-42%! Mexico has the second highest at 19% and is third with 14% of the population being vegetarian.

Even if you like to eat meat, you could celebrate world Vegetarian Day just for one day!
