Most Baker apprenticeship programs will teach you about the fundamentals of nutrition, bread making, ingredients and practical baking applications, cake and cookie production, decoration and design, confectionery techniques, costing, purchasing, and product management. You can even learn how to make pastries.
Most Cook apprenticeship programs cover the fundamentals of menu planning, costing, butchery, nutrition, baking, purchasing, garde manger and charcuterie, and product management. You can learn how to supervise kitchen staff if you want to own or manage a restaurant.
Places that you could potentially work include restaurants, private clubs, hotels, resorts, hospitals, long term care facilities, corporate settings, private catering your own business and more.
