Mechanic-Skilled Trade

If you like to work with your hands and repair mechanical equipment, you may be interested in becoming a mechanic.

Mechanics are skilled trades people who complete an apprenticeship training program which consists of on-the-job and in-school training.

In general, it takes 7,220 hours – approximately four years to complete an apprenticeship.

An apprenticeship requires 6,500 hours of on-the-job work experience and 720 hours of in-school training. This means that you can earn an income while training to become a mechanic.

For more information about skilled trades, visit the Skilled Trades Ontario website.

You can use your Canada Learning Bond to help cover the costs of the apprenticeship. Don’t delay! Apply for the Canada Learning Bond today.
